This depends on many factors including the complexity of the design, turnaround time, and the size of the case. Please contact us for more information.
Most orders ship out within one day if the item is currently in stock. If its a custom case order, then once your custom case order has been scheduled, we generally try to get custom cases made in just a few days from the time we begin the design.
For some of our case models, we can sell just the foam insert. If you already own the outer shell of the case, this could save you some money.
However, if you don't already own the case, it won't save you any money. The dimensional weight of the case is the same as the foam insert, so the cost of shipping it will be the same. For further explanation of Dimensional Weight, the following is an excerpt taken from Wikipedia's page regarding "Dimensional Weight":
Dimensional weight, also known as volumetric weight, used in shipping and freight, is a billing technique which takes the account of the weight (mass), length, width and the height of a package.
Shipping costs have historically been calculated on the basis of gross weight in kilograms or pounds. By charging only by weight, lightweight, low density packages become unprofitable for freight carriers due to the amount of space they take up in the truck/aircraft/ship in proportion to their actual weight. The concept of Dimensional Weight has been adopted by the transportation industry worldwide as a uniform means of establishing a minimum charge for the cubic space a package occupies. In fact, UPS and Fedex have recently announced that starting 2015, shipping charges on all shipments (air and ground) will be determined by greater of the actual weight and dimensional weight of a package. Prior to this announcement, dimensional weight charges were only applicable to packages of a specific size range.
Airport Shipping is a unique freight option which can get your package to you significantly sooner than with a conventional Ground shipping option. Once the package is shipped, it generally will arrive the same day. By using Airport Shipping, the package is taken to our local airport and handed to Southwest Airlines for shipment. The package is issued a tracking number and it departs with a specific Airport destination code. Once it arrives, the recipient can pick it up at the Southwest Cargo office. Typically the Southwest Cargo office is located away from the terminals where you can park a vehicle. A photo ID is required at the time of pickup to prove your identity. Its a great option if you need the package right away and you live near an airport that is serviced by Southwest Airlines.
Even before we start designing the case we look at how we can optimize the layout of the case so that the operator has the least number of steps needed to pick up the camera and hit record and shoot.
The company is run by people who have shot films and commercial for a living, so we know exactly how the cases have to be designed to be a productive workflow on set.
The laser cut layouts reduce set up time and less of a chance for errors on set with missing pieces or when things get lost. The layout is optimized for maximum capacity while also delivering adequate protection around each object in the case.
The Pelican cases come with a great reputation and they back it up with a limited lifetime warranty service, so that if anything happens to the case due to quality of workmanship, Pelican will replace it.

We make every effort to achieve perfection with our cases. Of course, perfect fit requires an exact measurement of each component. Every contour should be accounted for and integrated into the design, along with measurements that are accurate to within 0.001". We also take into account the surface texture and friction test the fit as we design the final product. This will ensure that there is no slop in the case, maximizing the capacity and providing the most protection in the event of an impact.
Quite often, the rough measurements provided on consumer websites will be misleading and yield poor results for our laser cutting process. The best way to ensure a perfect fit is to send the equipment in for measuring. When we coordinate it properly, your equipment is safe and is returned to you within your preferred timeframe.
If you do not want to send the equipment in, you have the option to provide your own measurements. When providing your own measurements, you will sign a disclaimer acknowledging that you accept full responsibility if the equipment doesn’t fit correctly. We are unable to adjust the foam later. In other words, it is not possible to “fix” the foam after its been laser cut. If we have to re-do the case due to a mistake, we’ll pretty much be starting over from scratch so the price will reflect that.
There is no returns on custom cases. All sales on custom cases are final.
Pelican has over 50+ models with several variations in color and features. We've put together a convenient resource to help with comparing different case models. Click here to review the case dimensions and options.
The overlay is made of an exterior grade, UV-stable composite engraving material optimal for foam reinforcement and display purposes. The 2-tone composite material uses a high contrast blend, and we're able to achieve remarkable displays. It provides extra strength and extends the life of the foam by protecting the upper surface. It is permanently adhered to the top layer of foam. It also helps to label the equipment so that your crew always puts your gear back in the right spot, and clients will be impressed with your display and organization. We can also engrave your company logo into the surface of the overlay.
Overlays are available in a variety of different colors. We stock most of the popular colors including: Red, Blue, Black, Yellow, Green, Stainless Steel, Gold, Orange, Gray, Purple and White.
While we're confident you're going to enjoy our product, we understand there are times when the wrong item is accidentally ordered, or it simply doesn't accommodate your specific configuration. We will accept returns within 7 days provided there are no signs of use. If there are signs of use, then a re-stocking fee may be assessed. The customer is responsible to pay for the return shipping expense.
